The Beneath the Sea Saturday Evening International Underwater Film Festival will be held at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel, with noted TV host Mike deGruy the Master of Ceremonies. From his TV show, Mike is well accustomed to hosting large gatherings with notable people: so you will not want to miss his mastery and his humor Saturday evening, March 27th, when he calls to order Beneath the Sea International Underwater Film Festival:

This years Film Festival promises to be an outstanding evening of the old and the new in underwater photography. Leandro Blanco and Stan Waterman present “Voices” … then the rarely shown “With Williamson Beneath the Sea” (he was one of the first motion picture photographers to venture beneath the sea in 1916) … Nancy McGee introduces the World Premier of “Sensational Seas II” … “The Last Sardine” by Terry MaasBill Fisher and Joe Romiero speak for sharks in “Death of a Deity” … and the world-Renowned Dr. Joe MacInnis brings his unique appeal to the party.

Emcee Mike is an award-winning filmmaker and television host specializing in natural history and underwater programming, Mike deGruy’s twenty-five-plus years of broadcasting, producing, and hosting has sent him to the world’s most remote and dramatic locations to create shows of majesty and drama. He has worked in submersibles with Jim Cameron, island hopped, photographed, and dove his way through the exotic islands of Micronesia, slipped quietly into the waters of a virtularium to explain the genetic change in sharks since the dawn of history, and in the Amazon River, using high-tech scuba gear and submersibles looked at the animals that make this forbidden, taboo river their home, and shared a laugh with Al Gore – both men masters of the quick laugh and the lingering insight.

Mike deGruy has a BS in Marine Zoology and three years of a PhD program in Marine Biology at the University of Hawaii. He sits on three boards in Santa Barbara and speaks frequently in International venues. Across his twenty-five years, Mike has won quite a few awards: Emmys (many), Cindys (many), BAFTA’s (many), Omni’s (Many), Ciclo and the Wildlife Festival too many times to mention individually. Beneath the Sea is honored to have Mike deGruy Master our Ceremonies for the International Underwater Film Festival.
